In the early days of 2012, my journey into machining kicked off at Voestalpine Nortrak in Chicago Heights. Think of it as a crash course in CNC, tooling changes, and orchestrating a symphony of machines with a five-axis gantry mill. The machining saga had begun.

Skipping ahead to 2015, I found myself steering the ship at Sugar Steel. CNC mastery was a given, but let's talk about management skills. I earned my stripes, climbing the ranks to become the Warehouse Manager. Picture this: setting up the whole warehouse, from installing machinery to hiring employees, running safety meetings—all while ensuring deadlines were met. Precision was not just a machining thing; it extended to every aspect of operations.

In the midst of all the metal madness, there was another subplot – computer science and a sprinkle of art. Yeah, graphic design became part of the narrative on my downtime. Unexpected, right? But it adds this cool, creative layer to the story. Here’s the kicker – my wife, Belgica Martinez-Ayala, and I now proudly own The Direct Laser Source LLC.
